Recruiting
HomerBonner is one of Miami’s few premiere complex commercial litigation boutiques. We have been an alternative to “big firm” litigation departments in South Florida since 1986. Over the years, we have learned that the best associates for our firm are those that want to work on the kind of high-quality litigation matters often found at big firms but who prefer to do so in a close-knit environment where they can excel at their own pace, unbounded by rigid hierarchies and unpressured by premature expectations of client development.
The development of a HomerBonner associate is simply a function of opportunity and desire. There is no line of associates between you and the senior partner managing the case. We do not believe in layering cases with associates of various levels. Even our most junior associates work directly with the senior partners of the firm. Consequently, our associates’ training comes from the hand of someone who has been practicing law for at least twenty years, not from another associate.
Our summer program is usually tailored to the summer’s group of clerks. We think summer clerks should strike a balance between enjoying themselves in South Florida and gaining an appreciation for what it is like to litigate as an associate at HomerBonner Summer activities are directed by the desires of the one, two, or three summer clerks that we have each year (though often, we suspect, with the skillful influence of junior associates). In the past, summer clerks have elected to snorkel in the Keys, attend a prize fight in American Airlines Arena, or take a day cruise on Biscayne Bay.
Whether an associate or summer clerk, our compensation has always kept pace with that paid by Miami’s big firms.
